2 of us fished from dawn to dusk. Very low and tough conditions. One barbel on feeder and pellets and one trotting on stick float. Due to the low river levels all the swims at the top of the fishery were impossible to fish.
These swims have been cleared back but the shear drop to the river made them impossible to land a fish. Therefore only a couple of swims in the middle reaches to fish.

2 Barbel, 1 Chub

A first foray onto the Edw, what a treat! Overcast & cool. Water level quite low and very clear which meant fish in the still water were very vigilant but the fast pools more than made up for this. 3 good fish up to 14" with a couple of 6" and a few takes lost. Hatches of upwings and 5pm mayfly but fish rising to what appeared to be sub-surface emergers.
One on foam indicator para-adams the rest NZ Klink & dink, ginger Klink & small GHHE with gold wire, all on nymph but dry acted as attractor on largest fish.
I had forgotten all my fly boxes & pouch, fortunately enough flies attached to hats etc and butter from sandwiches makes an adequate fly dressing.

The river was low and sluggish compared to normal levels, Fishing was slow compared with what we had become accustomed to on the Wye. We caught a few chub during the day to feeder tactics, some around the 4lb mark.

There were anglers on the opposite bank who thought they were fishing upper holme lacy, I did tell them they had it wrong, but they didn't move upstream to where their beat was.

I am really concerned about the state of the river, the water was a turbid brown colour, and no sign of any of the ranunculus that this section of the river once had in abundance. I fear that a once beautiful river has been turned into an agricultural drain.
