There were 4 anglers and we caught 9 barbel and 20 chub.
The conditions were such that the Wye was flooded so we could not float fish.

Excellent track down to the fishery and swims well made with ground spike and ropes provided. Only had one barbel but will not be put off returning as it is a beautiful well maintained fishery.

A slow start in the morning at the top of the beat but things changed dramatically in the afternoon once I had crossed the river at the bend and fished down.
There was a small but steady hatch of small olives most of the afternoon which the trout responded to,sub-surface emergers, spiders and nymphs all taking fish. Sport was non stop for a couple of hours in cool and drizzley conditions.
Quite a special autumn day’s fishing, not because of the size of fish to hand, only 2 or 3 making 12” but rather because of the sheer number of takers over a prolonged period, and there were no parr in the total.
All quickly returned as usual with many more misses and on-offs.

Despite strong gusty winds trout were keen to take black hoppers on the surface. Only the west side of the lake was fishable due to the wind and as the afternoon rain arrived the cloud obscured the boat house while the opposite end of the lake was in sunshine. Over 30 fish netted between us with just as many lost or missed.

A red letter day, despite the rain and wind. 15 barbel banked, several more lost. Largest fish weighed at 10lb 4 oz with several more just under 10lb and smallest fish around 5lbs. All fish is superb condition. An amazing afternoons fishing in solitude in the rain. Quite magnificent. Thank you.
