First time on the stretch and had a brilliant day. Parking and access to the river was very good. River was low and clear,we managed to unhook and photograph fish without taking them onto the bank which was nice. Fished the bottom swim using 3oz cage feeders,3 of the barbel caught were around 6lb with one smaller fish,a few decent chub caught to around 5lb. Steady canoe traffic passed throughout the day but they were no bother. Will definitely look at returning in the future!

My first time back at Ty Newydd for a while. I prefer the new parking arrangements; but it was hard work today on a low, clear river. That said, it was a mighty confident angler making his way up river after four Trout, two on a nymph and two on a dry, in the first hour; rising fish, from shallow water, tight against the left hand bank above the Bachawy. There were a few flies, including mayfly, hatching at this time but, as the wind got up, the hatch petered out; and I was not to see hide not hair of a fish for the rest of the morning. Only fished up to the Gravelly Run. A pleasant chat with the other angler on the beat, before having it away home for my wife's pancetta wrapped, stuffed chicken breasts (that's my evening meal in case you are wondering) and the Euros

Tough day with no showing fish, water was very cloudy with what appears is places to be green algal blooms..!
Managed 2 bites, 1 bream around the 7lb mark and 1 very lively 2lb eel, both taken on float fished meat.
Not a single sighting of any cypranids..!

Fished for 3 hours after 2.30pm. Overcast and mild . No fish rising so tried traditional wet flies. No success probably down to operator error!

Arrived for an afternoon session to find that I had the beat to myself which was a bonus. I started off at the top of the field below the woods and made my way back to the woods fishing multiple swims in the hope of a barbel.
The stretch was alive with chub, all swims produced and considering I was only fishing for 6 hours it was a bite a cast up until 8pm when the river just switched off.
Considering I'm pretty fit the walk was interesting even though I scaled right down, a ski lift needs to be considered for the way back up the hill :)
