A bit of a disappointing day, with very little sign of any fish, despite the water level and weather seeming ideal and plenty of fly life. No takes on dry or nymph fishing 7am - 2pm.

Searching and booking the ticket on the Fishing Passport portal has been very smooth and efficient. The map and information about access and beat limits are easy to use, although I couldn't find an access to the river from the lower parking, and you need a gps (e.g. Google maps) in order to reference the upper and lower limits with your location.
I fished between 9.30am and 8.00pm on a hot, sunny day. The levels might have been low, although I don't know the average levels of the river. I found a great variety of flies, including olives, mayflies, sedges, stonefly (or similar), dragon flies, etc. They didn't hatch at once, but they were fairly present all the day long. This didn't translate in many rises. I have seen only one fish regularly rising at the bottom of a narrow fast flowing current towards the end of the day (a 20/25 cm brown trout which I catch on the dry) and one more odd singular rise at the top pool of the beat.
The rivers alternate shallows fast flowing stretches to very slow pools. Some of the pools are very deep. Wherever the flows slows down, the river holds a very big population of minnows and small fishes, some of them very aggressive on the flies, both dry and nymph. I ended up mistakenly catching two of them, one on the dry one on the nymph.
The other brown trout (probably just under 20cm) came on a nymph from a deep pool under a fast flowing current. All fishes has been returned to the river.
To be noted: there is a bridge that collapsed on the river, as well as other big round concrete objects on the bed of the river immediately further upstream.
