7hrs fishing as a beginner under excellent tuition from Oliver Burch. Pulled out 1 baby salmon, a nice little brown trout, and 5 grayling including a 12” and a 14”. Most success on dry fly in the change of pace zone in upper half of the beat.

Excellent session, many hard-fighting barbel, couple up to 8lbs+ and a 5lb+ chub - epic!

14 Barbel, 2 Chub

Water very clear but low. Very little activity. Mainly nymphing. Extraordinary how things can change so quickly compared to the previous catch report.

A little more activity in late afternoon. 12" & 8" both on dry. Water very cold and beautifully clear.

Lots of fish seen throughout the beat, one lost and one landed from the Vanstone pool.

A beautiful day on a pristine beat with lots of varied water. We were glad to be making the most of what seems to be an extended summer. We barely saw a rise all day but by prospecting in the faster water managed to catch all the fish off the top on a Jonathan Barnes soft hackle dry. Somehow this fly seems to rise fish when they aren’t even taking naturals. A firm favourite. All fish came from the faster shallower water and all the trout were from the very fast water. We missed many many more and also lost a better trout. Nothing huge came to the net but once again we had a fantastic day. Thank you Wye and Usk.

Lovely stretch and plenty of good looking swims. Fished afternoon and evening in bright sunshine, pellets and corn. Not a twitch all day from three swims. Plenty of friendly canoeists, swimmers and paddle boarders, not a problem.
Seen a few comments about the narrow bridge - it’s a robust and solid structure across a ditch. Wish all footbridges were so well built. There is a bit of a slope down to the beat which is no issue if you take it steady and don’t take loads of just-in-case tackle and bait options you will never use.
