Despite sunny weather and some hatching fly, only one (large) trout seen feeding. No takes all day, mostly fished Euro nymph and duo. Access was poor below 2nd weir due to undergrowth and small gate to access upstream of bridge stretch is padlocked. Very picturesque.

First time on this river, anywhere, had a day fishing whilst on holiday in the area.
Weather was bright sunshine with a medium to strong intermittent breeze.
I didn’t catch anything but enjoyed the day

A pleasant mornings fishing, from the beach just on the downstream right hand side of the river past Llanforist bridge.
Caught nothing, no bites and seemingly no rises in the location.
Novice fly fisherman, so caught fly on the bushes a few times.
Easy access from free car park, maybe 0.5 mile walk.
Perhaps should have tried more locations, but with chair and equipment, it was easier to stay put.
Stayed at Penyfan farm self catering, not far from Newcastle, about 10 miles from Abergavenny. If closer I might have come back for evening fishing.
Maybe next year

Fishing:Trout (River)

Afternoon fishing at the Brook. 19 trout, 5"- 10", size 14 Klinkhammer.
Took a bit of gambling on dog walkers this afternoon. Unfortunately it didn't pay off. The hot weather seemed to bring many dogs out and they all wanted to cool down in the river.
Fishing was good as long as the dogs didn't go in. All the stretch with clear water produced fish. Sadly it was only half of the Brook.
Will try early morning next time before the season ends.

Tough day! 1 barbel & missed a couple of timid bites. The croys seemed to have been dismantled somewhat during the heavy rainfall of Jan, Feb & Mar and I lost 3 lots of tackle on rocks under water in an area where I did not have any trouble in the past. No many swim choices on Wyebank. It could with some work to give a some access in the lower part of the beat.
