A lot slower day as the river had dropped back to normal levels. Still a pleasant days fishing

4 Barbel, 4 Chub

Slower day as river dropped had a nice looking barbel and a few nice chub on the waggler in the slack. 2 big eels as well.

River up about 18”, coloured and pushing through so pretty good conditions but it was fairly hard going with all of the barbel and 7 of the chub falling to one rod plus one of us blanked. This is a nice venue and the fish are of a good stamp here but the banks are very steep and the walk is long to explore the whole fishery

Had stuff to do and only got there mid afternoon. River was on the high side for this beat - a lot of the bottom section being unwadeable and therefore unfishable given the steepness of the banks and riverside foliage. I looked at the upper section but it turned cold and with more unfinished stuff to do, I left early. Out of the various beats I fished this summer though, this is probably my favourite and I hope one day to get a chance to fish it again.

I'm back overseas now, and won't be submitting any posts here for a while. So I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who organizes and runs The Fishing Passport for making such wonderful water available at the click of a mouse. Hard days fishing, went all the way up the top to farmers, to start 1 up there. But ended up with 11 fish in total between us when come back down towrds the house.

My friend and I caught 3 brown trout with spinning technique . We missed plenty fish. Water was clean and shallow. Inspectors was friendly as usual.

There wasn't a sign of any fish, albeit that any which lurked undetected within the arc of my casts would almost certainly have been perfectly safe.

Still a lovely stretch of river though.
