Disappointing day and rained for most of the afternoon. I and my guest both drew a blank. Judging by bits of angling material left on the bank side the reservoir fishing with bait is very popular. The Usk reservoir is a much quieter and more scenic place to spend an afternoon in the rain flogging the water with a fly!

River fell and cleared during the day. But then the rain started again! No salmon seen or touched, but the river was beautiful with the odd March Brown hatching off.

A first visit to this beat for my son and myself - really enjoyed ourselves but could see that summer water levels would make life pretty challenging. One trout only which took a Greenwells Glory having tried a selection of nymphs

Despite the heavy rain of Saturday, river was clear, but it was running fast. Nymphing all the morning, no fish caught. Good hatch from 1,30 till 3pm, and managed to land 4 decent graylings with a dry fly. Once the hatch is finished, fishes stop raising too.

4 Grayling
