3 x trout 11-14 inches, Waterhen Bloa, Dark Moorgame, Woodcock and Hare's Lug. A rather sparse large dark olive hatch went on for quite a while during the afternoon, joined later by a few march browns. A few trout are, now, starting to show their heads at the surface. I managed to rise several more with a Jingler....and missed every one of them!

Fished from 10-4, first fish was a fat and healthy 16” trout on a gold bead hares ear fished on the bottom , caught at around 11 o’clock. Nothing else happened until 2 when there was a hour long hatch of mixed flies, 10” trout to a size 16 para Adams, 3 grayling between 10-12” Klinkhammer Adams, Greenwells, Para Adams. Didn’t really matter what fly it was just had to get them to the right spot. Good to be fishing dries again and good not to be snowed in again!

I was hoping for a March Brown hatch in the top pool but that was'nt to be. This part of the river is still quiet with just a few olives and the odd MB coming off down on the flats. The rises I did see I covered with a dry fly and hooked up, three to 15" in the net and a larger acrobat who cartwheeled off. I had to confront two Merthyr lads who were spinning, I explained about how the foundation works and politley made sure that they stopped fishing. All fish returned.

My first outing on the Passport scheme - thoroughly enjoyable beat, very much a small stream. Fished from 12.00-2.30, no real hatch and absolutely nothing rising, missed two and caught one about 6", GHRE under klink. Which I was pretty pleased with, but then slightly paled with second beat tried today...

...second trip today, fished 3.30-6.00. Brook actually slightly bigger than I was expecting from passport scheme description, nothing rising or obviously hatching but trout taking nymphs in all likely looking places, 10 between 6-9inches came to hand and probably missed a similar number. Duo very effective, gold head nymph under something buoyant. Great fun.

Actually trout fishing. Fished nymphs and spiders from 12 until 4 without success. Thin spattering of LDOs at about 1pm, no MBs that I saw, and no rises.

Having used the online booking facility for some years I have to comment that I feel that £3 booking fee for just one rod is way over the top. How can you justify this charge for a facility that has been set up a few years and has minimal running costs compared with ticket machine collection and maintenance. I even use my own printer and paper to print out copies of the transaction. I gain £1 on a 6 fish pensioner ticket and then get stuffed with a £3 booking fee. I complete returns on line consequent to the reminders you send following an outing. I am ashamed to say that when I bought tickets from the machine I rarely submitted returns and I bet you do not get many from other anglers who buy machine tickets. Oh the fishing was fine. The fish were fit. Lost a few but had some sport. I don't eat them but give them to elderly neighbours so I don't worry about getting my bag limit. Four fish ticket next time though to cover the 'booking fee' on line.
WUF note:
We're glad you had a good day but sorry to hear your views on the booking fees. Many anglers prefer the convenience of booking online and unfortunately it is not a service that can be provided free of charge. The Passport is non-profit making scheme. The booking fee for Llwyn On can of course be avoided completely by using the ticket machine on site.
