All looked good with the river falling with a bit of colour after the spate, and a cloudy mild day. Started with feeder and pellet, but no result after an hour or two and switched to meat. Hooked and lost two chub in the same tree roots. Bullied the next two away from the bank and landed them. Chub bites ceased in late afternoon so I returned to pellet and feeder. On the last cast of the day I had my only barbel bite and was into a good fish. Mindful of my experience with the chub I foolishly put too much pressure on to keep it away from the bank and the hooklink snapped. Not the day I had anticipated at the beginning!

Fishing for Pike, but they weren't in the mood today. Not a single bite. Flow was a little pacey for them.

Made welcome by house near sawmill and pointed in right direction . Quite tricky wading though very beautiful on this bright November day. Excellent lunch eagles pub in Rhayader and mesmerising visit to red kite feeding station.

What a perfect day: warm November sun and a river in prime condition. This is a great beat to trot a maggot down but I wouldn't fancy my chances with a fly rod! I caught all day and the fish were high quality all were over half a pound and two of the WBT were over 1.5lb. It was pretty easy going: I fished 3lb line straight through on a 10ft rod and centrepin : such a lovely way to fish. Thanks to The Foundation once again for a fabulous day. Not my last visit this winter I hope. All my fish bar two were caught upstream of the bridge.

A cold and frosty start with the sun appearing throughout the day. Fished duo during the morning resulting in 4 Grayling between 10 and 13 inches, all coming to # 16 nymphs fished close to the bottom and in the tail of the 2nd pool. Moved up to the big pool and struggled to find one 12” Trout to a nymph and one more small grayling to a # 16 Griffiths gnat at the tail of the pool. Notably a Gray Duster was capsized by a salmon which seemed to be holding station in shallow water and which appeared again later.

Arrived at freezing river conditions, plus low clear water. But still managed 7 nice chub on bread.
To cold for barbel ! Very enjoyable.

The river is still low but clear. Despite the persistent rain it fished pretty well. There were a lot of tiny grayling willing to take a fly and a few of their bigger brothers, including a double header. Successful flies were a gold bead ptn and a shrimp pattern.
