A very slow and hot day in the sun. Some nibbling activity to pellet in the evening but no strike able bites and no fish. Had some fun with the chub on float fished bread but still no numbers of them.

The water level is high so fly fishing is restricted in the western arrm. Managed to bank 2x Rainbows and 1 Brown to a dry black hopper.

Lost 6 more Rainbows at the net, 4 in the western arm on silver humungus and 2 on the point bank on the other side, hopper.

The perch lived the humungus!

Great days fishing although Barbel was caught on the first cast and then didn't see another one all day. The day was ruined when a couple of lads fell out of the canoe they were in and decided to walk straight through the middle of my swim. I was mid afternoon and the sun was hot so called it a day.
Beautiful scenery and the best way to spend a Saturday.

The other was an eel????

A friend and I booked the day, we arrived on the beat about 8.30am, it was raining slightly, but conditions were perfect. We parked the car about 300m down from the last fishing hut, not far from the pipe bridge. Fish were rising all day, but the river was low, we could have done with about another foot of water. We caught 4 brown trout in total, as well as losing 2 more. All 4 fish were less than a pound.

We both started off with wet flies, coachman, but as the day progressed and we fished some slower parts we moved to dry flies, cadiss and olives. We will definitely book again, but maybe a month earlier when there is more depth.

Just as a note for the instructions on how to find the beat, they were perfect, what3words is a great tool, the only thing I would say is there were no white pegs to follow and as soon as you go through the gate with the combination lock, turn left on to the grass and follow the vehicle marks along the river.
