Very nice day out but nothing caught, fished fly all day, good day for fly overcast and warm until the evening . Saw two nice fish in the Vanstone, one very large. water very clear and getting low, could do with a little rain. will be back later in the year when i can find some time

A beautiful little river but the weather had turned quite wintery and there was very little evidence of fish activity.
A couple of rises but very short lived. After several days of dry weather the water level was low and I found the fishing difficult and without success.

A very cold northerly wind seem to keep the fly (and everything else) inactive. There were a few small grayling rising around mid day, other than that nothing.

No fish seen or caught, first go here, and I'm still getting to grips with fly fishing on rivers, lovely day to wander up the river though

Nice to see this beat recovering with lots fly life seen but not too many rising fish. 5 Trout 6 to 8 inches and 1 small Grayling.
All caught on bead head nymphs in faster water.

5 Trout, 1 Grayling

River again in beautiful condition, but no sign of fish. Have to get stealthier!

Very few trout rising to very few flies - some LDOs and few more LBDs. Fish moving around to search for food. Very flighty in low clear water. A bright sunny summer's day in April dictated very tricky fishing - the "dog days of April"?!
This is however a fantastic beat and, given a few more inches of water and a decent hatch of fly, would likely provide superb fishing.
