Unexpectedly nice day with some sunshine. River low and clear but with good flow. Occasional flies hatching so prospected with very small bwo and iron blue paras. The trout were in the glides and next to deep cover, not in the fastest water. Most glides produced a take and I managed to land 11, at 7" to 12", as well as missing several. Quite a hike back from the top of the beat to the car parking spot, but there was a spring in my step!!

First time on a river after breaking my elbow 2 months ago! Just a couple of hours during a short stay in the area. Lovely stretch of water, plenty of variety. A few fish coming up, and managed to tempt a few on dries. Most takes on nymphs though, but my reflexes obviously need a bit of practice! Word of warning. Very aggressive bull in adjacent field. I had to make a hasty retreat through a field on the opposite bank.

The river seemed to be in good order for salmon fishing, clear and a reasonable height but not even a tug today

Fished evening session, good place to take my son to catch his first river barbel. River was up a bit but not coloured. Fished bottom pool. Feeder and pellet halfway across. Needed 3 oz to hold due to extra flow. Majority of fish were 8 oz to 1.5 lb. Biggest 5.5 lb which my son caught so nice pic for the album. Hopefully the large stocks of small fish mean the wye will be a good barbel river for years to come. I normally fish the Yorkshire rivers where it is unusual to see a barbel under 3 lb and you are fishing for one or two fish a session.

The river levels were low and the water relatively clear, though the flow increased during the day. We fished halibut pellets over feeder fed halibut groudbait and pellets. No fish in morning from the orchard field. Five takes in the afternoon from the lower field of which four barbel were landed (4-9 lb). Three barbel and two chub were landed in the evening from the orchard field. Noticed a considerable number of lice on the barbel. Superb day's fishing.
