No salmon caught or seen. Seem to be plenty of trout throughout the length of the beat though. Stayed until the heavens opened at lunchtime - much needed rain!

Slight tinge to the water which remains very low. Around midday a small stream on the boundary ran in very dirty and put a 30 meter wide band of chocolate down the right hand bank. Didn't see any rises but had 2 on nymphs. VERY slippery. I had felts and a wading stick and nearly went a few times! There's a covering of brown algae on the bedrock which is lethal. Lovely water and the broom, violets and bluebells are all out in bloom. I love the Upper Wye. Walked right down to the very bottom and worked back up, fished 1100hrs 'til 1530. The stained water made the wading even more tricky as you couldn't see the bottom, so called an early bath! Beautiful place and worth another visit.

Overnight rain and some light drizzle early on with little wind. Muggy. Water coloured as the day went on but fish were rising on the lower pools most of the day. Olive emerger (c-d-c), para-Adams, and olive klinkhammer did the trick. A really good day on a lovely beat. Best fish nudging 2lbs, most around the 1lb mark.

I'm new to trout fishing and this was my first trip to a river to fish for them. Had a enjoyable day and I missed more chances than I took, but I learned loads. Lovely stretch of river, I'll definitely be back.
