Managed to squeeze an afternoon/early evening visit in to this stretch and again wasn't disappointed. All fish to feeder tactics on a variety of the usual baits with the majority of the fish coming from the first left hand bank swim. Great afternoons fishing - many thanks.

2nd day of 2. With the fishing not feeding early we moved around the beat and mid morning got into the fish. Same tactics before and tried rolling meat which was great fun for the chub.
A brilliant two days and will certainly be back. The Green Man in the village looked after us handsomely. Will 100% be back. A treat to fish such an amazing river in such a beautiful area.

Short day fishing 10:00 - 15:30. Fished a similar peg to the previous day and started well with a couple of barbel. The chub then appeared in numbers and made finding the barbel difficult. I managed another barbel, but then at around 13:00, decided to move 100 yards upstream. Immediately caught a couple more barbel in the new swim, fishing mid river. More chub then followed, but not so prolific. Finished with 4 barbel in total from the new swim.
All the fish fell to pellets and I had slightly more success using a pellet only feeder than a ground-bait feeder. The later appeared to immediately attract chub that would take the bait on the drop (as did at least one barbel).

Good river conditions but fresh rain needed to liven the water up. All fish taken on pellet, we fished from noon til 21.00 so all in all more fish would have a bonus but a good day. A lovely stretch of water with fabulous wildlife, a large Grass Snake swam right past me!

Back on the same beat I have caught 60 fish in 4 sessions this year. The conditions were low and clear so not ideal for static bait fishing but I caught some fantastic chub on rolling meat and a blob of plasticine as a weight. I did lose to very big barbel on my feeder rigs to the snags (where they hide in these low water conditions).
Another great day on this stretch and building a picture now of what works when....I will be back.

The river was quite low and clear. We were new to this beat so probably did not take best advantage of the conditions. We fished the upper stretch first, wading out to the pebble bar and then beyond into mid-stream (the water was not much more than knee high). This produced one very well-conditioned 3lb chub to me on trotted meat. Wading back through the bankside mud proved treacherous! We then moved to the lower part of the beat, carefully avoiding the bull with his harem of ladies. First cast for both of us produced a small barbel. I then experienced a number of unproductive sharp tugs and eventually a 2lb eel (miraculously lightly hooked in the V of the jaw), whilst my fishing partner got a few chub up to 4.5 lb. After 3 pm it went dead and the swims produced only a further 5lb chub to me at 6 pm. This is a pleasant fishery that we would fish again, but preferably with a bit more water. Be prepared for quite a hike along the riverbank if you want to explore the entire beat.
