Fished a double swim with my son just down stream of wood with my nephew in the next swim we all caught well on pellet. The river was dropping nicely with a bit of colour. This is a top class fishery that we were happy to return to after catching over 20 barbel and 30 chub in a day last year. This time we had 26 barbel and 29 chub on the first day and 14 barbel 32 chub on the second, you need a lot of bait to make this fish well, what a place.

Nice, intimate beat which definitely needs a short rod. I used a 6'6" 3wt glass rod and anything longer would have made casting very tricky.
Water was low but fish were rising. I had half a dozen takes to a green klinkhamer and a deer hair emerger but none stayed on. There are strands of both barbed and plain wire at various places along the beat but, with one exception, these were easy enough to negotiate. Shame about the rubbish in the river but a pleasant couple of hours nonetheless.

River level perfect after rain midweek showing around 0.25m on the gauge. Still carrying a nice bit of colour and a good flow I fished French leader with 2 weighted Nymphs.
Had 30+ Trout mainly about 6 inches with the best 2 around 12 inches. I had to finish around 2 so I only managed the first 2 fields up to the last house on the road. A few small up wings hatching as I left and 1 or 2 fish rising to them.

15 or so to hand in the hour or so there today between 4.30pm -5.45pm . all took size 18 black nymph under the midge on the water. largest 9 inches all the rest between 6-8 inches. Levels very low now and with the sun up a stealthy approach was needed.
