Fished on this beat for the week end; Saturday water a bit muddy caused by the heavy rain, but managed to catch 8 Browns with nymphs, 2 fishes over 1,5/2 pounds. On Sunday water was finally clear, sunny day, level drops down a bit. Fished most part of the day with nymph, lots of bite and many fishes lost. Later in the afternoon few fishes were rising, and with dry flies got 2 good sized graylings. Great beat, great location, surely I will come back.

Lovely fishery, hard going at times with the river carrying a foot of excess water. Struggled early on the nymph taking the first after lunch right at the top of the beat, and then a fleeting hatch of pale olives provided a very short spell of dry fly sport right at the bottom of the lower beat in the afternoon. Two more fish fell to emergers. 3 Fish between 8 - 14inch
Thanks

11 x trout 6-9 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. A cool, cloudy and windy day with showers threatening. Very little rising so mostly prospecting likely places - fished to the top but nothing large seen.

Nice clear water, a bit lower than a couple of weeks ago but still running fast. A very pleasant couple of hours fishing, with 11 trout to the hand, countless more missed (I wouldn't last long as a quick draw in the Wild West!!). Biggest was about 10", majority were nearer 6-7". All caught on a tan or green klinkhammer, although a couple of them took the fly when I'd drowned it and was on a quick retrieve.

Thankfully river had continued dropping overnight and was some 4ft down comparative to the same time the day before. Water still very muddy but there were more choices and even some of the gravel bar opposite the gardens had begun to appear. Hope were high after an early lost barbel to pellet. Then followed an eel to luncheon meat - not particularly welcome! By lunch time I had managed to lose 4 barbel all to hook pulls, one right at the net which had torn all round the river and was a real lump... Luck had to change and around 1 pm the first was banked at 6 lb. Over the next few hours 4 more duly followed all between 6-8lb and also a gudgeon! Never had one of those on a 10mm pellet before. Strangely chub did not show at all, not even their knocks. Conditions were improving all the time as the river dropped, but having 9 takes in a day makes the long walk back worthwhile. Thx again WUF I will be back.

River up three and a half feet, chocolate brown and pushing through, not ideal but we managed a few fish, best Barbel just over 8lb. Best chub 4 and a half. All fish to meat.

Very high level. Locals would probably not have fished. As I had travelled a distance of if fish but no fish. Nice beat
