No fish today. Great day out though. Saw a kingfisher and the sand-martins building their nests by the car park.

Very nearly a cracking day here... the weather was decent for a while, leading to a good hatch of flies. In fact, a carpet of flies was observed - at the far side of course - and a spell of an hour or so when there were many rises from salmon smolts.
We both agreed there wasn't a trout among them. All were silver with white belly.

Lucky with the weather. Good hatch LDOs and trout switched on around lunchtime. Caught and returned 2 beautiful WBT of around 1lb.

Lovely day on one of my favourite Usk beats; scenery here takes some beating. Wading presenting the usual challenges (nearly fell in a few times despite use of wading staff!). Nice hatch around midday and took one WBT off the top on a Klinkhammer. Lost a couple of fish on the nymph. Looking forward to my return. Thanks WUF.

11 x trout 6-10 inches, prospecting with Rusty Klinkhammer and Deer Hair Emerger. A couple of hours relaxation after a long drive back from Swansea. Well, here too, they do seem to be looking up now, or at least some of them are, although I saw few natural rises. 15 degrees air temperature by the time I finished. The nymph patterns remained on the fly patch.

1'9" clear- looking great. Grannom hatch 11am trout everywhere--Tim had some on his trout gear. 1 salmon showed in Llangoed pool soon after the fly went over him, but wouldn't look at anything else. We both tried hard - but failed, nevertheless a beautiful day on the Wye.

After a wonderful spring day yesterday, today started decidedly iffy. However as the day wore on things improved enough to precipitate a couple of solid March brown hatches. Five good trout caught and safely released, including a classic Penpont Porker: just 17" but 3lb weighed in the net. Fat, deep and strong! By 3pm the sun was shining and spring was back. A great pity I had to leave early!

River 0.84m perfect. Fished for 6hrs on a great spring day. Saw silver 10-12 lber porpoise by the pub but no response to my offerings except a 4 oz trout at least twice the size of my Willie Gun Snaelda ! Hatch of olives at midday with a few rising. Small hatch of March Browns but no risers.
