Tested the contents of my fly boxes today! River in good flow and slightly coloured, range of flies and bugs on the water. Trout were rising in some pools and deep runs but not in others. It also turned out they were being very choosy, and were picking off different food items in each pool. After I while I twigged that I had to try various dries/paras to find the 'right' one in each pool, and sometimes failed - they either ignored everything or ducked out after having a look. Did find the right fly occasionally to land 7 at 7" to 10". On sedge or tiny black fly or a pale olive - really enjoyed this, even though I only managed half the beat.

A tough day at Middle Hill Court with bright sunshine and river rising. Also a large amount of debris coming through.

Nice and easy fishery to find, good access to river. River very clear. Stuck it out on the feeder but only one barbel about 6lb. Should have done a bit of trotting as well. You live and learn from other reports.

A tricky day with a rising river and loads of floating weed and debris making fishing in the flow near impossible. Even so, a great day out as it always is on the Wye.

The river came up 1.5 feet overnight after some rain upstream. It gave the (low) river a bit more colour. Together with heavy clouds, some drizzling rain and a strong wind, conditions were ideal. All bites came in approximately 1 golden hour between 17:30pm and 18:30pm.

River in great order, but sadly anticipation not matched by results. Weather cool, cloudy bright, and expected activity did not materialise. Much of the day spent river watching, waiting for tell tale dimples, but even this avid watcher failed to see a single fish all day, even in the tastiest of bubble lines and other likely spots.

Had a really bad days fishing, only had one bite from a very small fish, I didn't see any other signs of fish at all despite conditions being good.
