Bright day and only one fish landed with other wriggling off the hook beforehand. On a dry fly, fish took short.
Not as many trout rising as I would have expected for a spring afternoon.

Didn't start fishing til 9.30 am could only fish beat 5 which was ideal as we only had a few hours fishing as drove up from Cornwall & then driving back. Seen 3 salmon show. Spoke to 1 angler who just finished fishing the beat who had a nice 15lber on the fly. A very enjoyable few hours fishing was had. A very nice beat to fish with easy access.

WUF / LAFA Wild Streams Day - Feedback
Two small trout (6" and less!) on a deep nymph.
Despite the general lack of fish, I enjoyed the day very much and would like to thank the organisers and our 'enthusiastic amateur' guides for their help and generosity in sharing skills, knowledge, and top tips. I learnt a lot and will now 'attack' the wild streams with renewed confidence.
Some discussion at the de-brief concerned the difficulty of allocating beats for such events. My suggestion to aid the process would be to perhaps provide an opportunity when booking the day to express interest in the type of beat / difficulty where experience was desired. In my case, I was looking specifically for advice on how to tackle the smaller streams with very limited size 'pools' and awkward access. Some form of provisional allocation could possibly be then made prior to the day.
As a further hopeful suggestion; any chance of a repeat performance aimed at Small Stream Grayling?? Put my name at the top of the list please!

Fished this beat on intro to wild stream fishing. Catch for me was nil on the day, but had 5 on that did not come to the net.
I would like to thank all involved on the day, for making it such a wonderful experience. Should there be a similar event next year I would definitly attend if possible. Hope so!

I participated in the organised wild stream day and teamed up with Clive from London whom I met last year. The day was warm and bright with little in the way of breeze. We saw plenty of fly life, but little in the way of rises. Clive caught two trout, but I only managed two enquiries, one on a killer bug and one on a Kite Imperial, neither stuck. Persevering with dries for too long was perhaps foolish, but a very enjoyable day in fine company was reward enough.

What a cracking day on a beautiful spring day. Started a little later than normal as it was due to be cold early. Arrived on water at 1000hrs to find a few stoneflies and March browns on the wing so started with a parachute March brown of my own design with a small Prince nymph suspended from it. Two smallish fish in the first run, one to each fly. A few missed takes on the March brown then ldos started to hatch so I switched to a solitary olive f fly that produced many more fish and just as many missed. Finished till four as I had other commitments, but the fish were still rising. Biggest being about 16" thank you.
