Tenkara Day. Conditions cloudy with sunny intervals occasional thunderstorms. River placid. Tenkara fishing. 1 grayling approx 9ins on dogs body. First time fishing here. Very enjoyable. Would be difficult to find if didn't follow someone who knew beat.

TENKARA DAY. Splendid and informative day learning the Tenkara style of fishing, difficult, challenging and special thanks to Seth and the organisers.

Tenkara Day.
Most enjoyable and informative. Caught the only fish showing on the surface all afternoon on dry. Good size Graying of about 1 1/4 lb on orange bead GRHE.

Fished with the Tenkara style as part of the WUF Tenkara day. 2 fish taken on Sakasa Kebari (size 16) and 2 taken on my own goldbead GRHE with CDC collar (size 16). Weather was very bad throughout the day, managed only around 3 hours of actual fishing due to lightning storms and heavy rain. 3 of the 4 fish were taken after the main front passed through the area, the water had coloured up but cleared quickly, possibly as this stream is spring fed? Largest fish was around 6 inches, smallest 4 inches, the other two around 5 inches. Great day fishing between the storms, this is a quite a technical venue in places, it is however quite a long beat to explore and is wider and easier to access further up into the middle of the beat (one of the staff suggested fishing near the ford but it didn't get up that far) All the fish were taken at the bottom of runs / head of pools. I would fish this venue again as I enjoyed the variety of river features and the surroundings. Small rod (7- 8ft western style or 8-10ft Tenkara) recommended.

Thanks for an excellent day. Really enjoyed it. I would endorse the suggestion for more tutors next time, especially on the water.

Despite the rest of the country basking in sunshine, the day started with wind and rain. Another great day out, with 4 fish on the dry. Lots more came to the fly but did not contact. Usually this might mean fishing too heavy, but I was using size 16 flies and 3 lb leader.

Another warm day with a few showers. Fished Boys Rocks from the island. River clear and low, but looked promising. Unfortunately I tried everything I knew, pellets, meat, paste, corn, etc, but I couldn't buy a barbel. I did pull out of one and caught an eel, but that was it. Decided to call it a day at 1pm as I planned an early start the next day. I notice that the anglers the following day had the same result. Some times it's your day and sometimes not, but it's still a very great river to fish.

Great days fishing despite bright conditions. All fish caught using feeder with hemp and pellets. Barbel to 7lb and chub to 4lb. Was more productive as the sun dropped about 7pm. We fished from about 1pm to 10 pm.
