Very little hatching but the lower hedges and fields next to the river are loaded with spinners of all types. Managed to winkle out a few fat trout on GRHE and Para Adams with the best two fish at 12" and 13".River now getting pretty low making the fishing tricky.

Fishing:Trout (River)

Started fishing at 10.00 with a strong down stream wind, there were a few fish showing on the surface but decided on the nymph. Walked through the first field and started fishing. The water was suprisingly warm but I managed to tempt 2 small BT of about 8", Moved up the beat through the other feild and managed an aditional 10 BT to about 1 1/2lb all taken on a caddis pupa in the faster runs.

Lovely day. River low but otherwise good. Fished pellets and ground pellets all day. Stupidly left my tripod at home so fishing in the woods was less easy than it might have been. Lots of interest in Legg Meadow, mostly mid-stream. Started with an eel but then moved on to chub and, eventually, thanks to a generous tip from another angler, a barbel. Thanks WUF

Turned up late morning and the beat had just been fished, but as I hadn't seen it before decided to at least have a walk down. Only fished a couple of the pools, didn't see any fish rising/moving, but did manage a cracking Grayling of about 16" on a czech nymph from under an overhanging tree at the neck of a deep pool. Left after that but will be back.

Fished for two days at How Caple. River low and clear. Fishing was very slow, even the chub weren't playing ball. We managed three barbel. As always the river valley was beautiful and it was a pleasure just to be down on the river's edge. The fish were a bonus.

Fished from about 4.30 till 8 in the evening. Access wasn't great on the downstream half but the upper halves much nicer. Only fish was a nice 12 inch trout on a mayfly just down from the bridge at the end of the beat, returned.
