Impressive, if brief, hatch of March Browns at about midday brought the fish to the surface with splashy rises all around. Otherwise, not much surface activity despite a trickle of olives through the day and a few of what looked like the first grannom of the year.
Biggest trout was around 1 1/4lb, with the oos grayling going to 1.5lb. Most took a gold headed ptn with a few coming up to a grey klinkhammer.

One trout of about 2lb, caught on a pheasant tail nymph and returned. Quite a few kids poaching.

Beautiful beat and lovely sunny day but unfortunately nothing hatching and no fish to be seen all day. Tried every nymph in the box with no luck, looking forward to coming back once the water has warmed up a little!

Fished for an hour in slightly coloured water. Caught and released two fish around 10 inches both on grey copperhead nymph. Will be back for a longer session in future!

Fantastic fishing during a very short hatch of March Browns. Both rods managed fish between 10 and 16" on dry flies and nymphs.

River was high and cloudy at first and was starting to clear around dinner time. Should have crossed the bridge to walk down stream as it appeared (from the nearside bank) that the far side had better casting opportunities for the amateur. Plenty of hatching flies when the sun came out, but I saw nothing rise at all.

Morning mist cleared leaving bright blue sky and 14 degrees. Casting awkward as there are plenty of bankside trees forming tunnels. Chest waders needed as half a mile into the beat at the end of the first field both banks are barb wire fenced. Plenty of fishing done wet first then dry but no catching. No fish seen all day.

It was a treat to fish such a beautiful river. I fished 6.30 to 8.30am caught 1 1lb trout, which I returned, and missing 2 other takes. Also fished 5 to 8pm missing 1 trout. I mostly used a gold head PTN,to get down, the river was flowing fast. No trout rising, although nice evening. Beats 2 & 3 best for trout. Also I didn't see any salmon. Thank you. Very enjoyable. I will return!
