River had colour and it was a surprise to struggle as it looked perfect.

River clear and fast. Heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. 3 x BT to 16", 10 x Grayling to 13". Flies size 16 and 18 CDC Quill Size 16 JIG PTN. 2.8 Tungsten Bead

Lovely section of the Wye. River had dropped a lot from the previous week so I expected things to be a little slow. I fished 3 swims from 1:30 to 9:00 p.m. on the 3rd swim around 5 p.m. I had my first bite, a lovely long lean chub of around 3lb then followed by 2 more & 3 barbel around 6lb mark. If you can make use of the farmers taxi service I would strongly recommend it as it's a bit of a walk to the river. He was spot on with his service & a nice bloke too. Really nice stretch definitely would go back.

A lovely scenic stretch though rather short and suiting the shorter session. A nice colour to the river with some extra water giving good conditions. No one told the fish though and struggled for 3 small brownies ( 2 on nymphs, 1 on spider) before the clouds began to look menacing and I called it a day.

Lower Llangoed 6.50pm 17lbs coloured cock to Charles Tweedie on Cascade #10 on intermediate sink tip.

Had my first salmon of 11lbs. off the Usk. River was low, took the fish on a size 12 double Munro Killer,at 6am.

A superb stretch of river but apparently fishless! During a short session before being rained off it was apparent that downstream wet fly would be possible on several of the runs given more water.

4 Chub 2 Barbel seen an Egrit!!

An excellent beat for less experienced salmon anglers to cut their teeth on. I arranged to have the assistance of the "indispensable" Mick the beat gillie for the morning and he saved me fishing large areas of the beat which tend to not hold fish. We started between the Corner Stone and the Maddox and Mick was flicking my line out for me when he was into a salmon before getting the whole shooting head out of the rings, sadly he passed the rod to me and despite good pressure being maintained he thought the fish was poorly hooked and it threw the fly. I fished hard until about 5pm but no more takes despite many coloured fish jumping and one bar of silver in The Stones. This is my second day on the Wye and Goodrich Court was well described in the directions and access to the pools was also easy compared to Lower Hill Court where I failed to determine the Upper limit and wasted a lot of fishing time returning down stream and finding access points.
