Very overgrown. Only one decent swim, very weedy. Caught nothing. Left after two and a half hours after not a single bite.

WUF note - This beat has a number of easily accessible swims. The Booking Confirmation email offers anglers the opportunity to contact the beat owner directly who can meet them on their arrival and introduce them to the beat and the swims available that are fishing best at that time. Anglers are advised to use this service to maximise their chances of catching and their fishing experience.

Warm day with the river very low, most stretches are almost at a stand still, apart from some small flowing riffles. 3 small fish caught, 1 little brownie 5" taken on a small dark wet fly and 2 very small grayling taken on a size 16 black gnat. Some rainfall would benefit the river.
It is as mentioned a superb beat, but please take the point about work needed above the top weir, as most of this section is unfishable and needs clearing.
Excellent service from the booking office.

Pretty happy with the catch given it was such a bright sunny day. Two decent chub and 2 small ones taken on meat and pellets. A very nice day to relax by the river and watch the dragonflies and kingfishers fly by.

Great day on this wonderful beat, a hot and sunny day with sign's of fish at around 12pm. 4 fish taken Czech nymphing with hares ear and 4 on Adams emerger. 2 big fish lost on snap off's with 4lb flouro tippet. I love the way they fight up there! All in all a top day! Biggest fish just shy of 3lb and the rest around the pound mark give or take. 2 cormorants by the bridge when I arrived!

Good day with the weather but fishing was difficult. A few small but welcome brown trout. After lunch things pickked up with a nice size chub 4lb worked my way back up the beat to the hut to find two other people fishing same beat one looked to have a spinning rod with him not sure about that.

A difficult day on a very low and all but non flowing river, best chance would have been in the fast water at Boys Rock but the heavy number of canoes made this an impossible choice. Should really have known better and not booked a Sunday but sometimes there is no option! A lot of algae and silk type weed across the river which also did not inspire confidence.

Arrived at the beat at around 6.45am. Chose a couple of swims at the upstream end of the beat. Fished for a couple of hours and missed one bite. A whole squadron of other anglers turned up and fished the opposite bank but, I must add, they we're considerate and opted to fish away from where we were cast. Decided to head into the woods for the rest of the day. The walk is steep but perfectly fine with minimal amounts of tackle. I used my waders to access a swim fishing from the rocks and almost immediately landed a decent chub. A couple of casts later something snapped up my pellet tipped with corn and, after a short scrap, I landed a grilse. I have caught sea trout before but this didn't look like one at all. Having spent some time comparing it to pictures of grilse on the internet I'm sure this is what I landed. Very bright conditions and extremely low water made conditions tough.

WUF note - The wooded section of this beat has since received a lot of clearance and maintenance work and has been opened up allowing access to some of the best faster water and salmon pools. Please see the website page and Beat Gallery for more information.
