We fished for 3 days, river constantly rising & the colour of drinking chocolate. Fished Middle & Lower Court on day 1. Had 1 eel! Disappointing. Day 2, 5.5lb chub, 10lb & 8lb barbel all on plain meat, 4ssg link ledgered in a quiet eddy. Day 3, 8.5lb barbel, 4lb chub, same method as before. Never fished the Wye before and will come back, hope the conditions are better and will maybe try early September before rains come. Would love to unlock full potential of this beautiful river . Thanks to the guy in a blue discovery for his tips.

Stayed at the Red Lion in Madley - cheap and cheerful - good big breakfasts and he even made us some sandwiches and filled our flasks at no extra charge.
River was coming down but only just within banks. Both fished with hair rigged pellet/boilie with 4mm pellets in PVA bags.
Large dead Barbel of 7/8lbs in one swim that had obviously been taken by an otter.

A testing day with 6" more water on Byton gauge than I would have liked. Water was coloured and full of leaves. Fished with two nymphs and ended up with 4 grayling ranging from 4" to 12" and 2 oos wbt of 10" each both of which spent more time in the air than the water. Bite detection a challenge - must have hooked 50 leaves over the day.
Probably last chance to fish this season - roll on the Spring!

Traveled from Essex on Sunday afternoon knowing the river was rising so not too optimistic.
Delighted to find, when I started today, that the river had been dropping overnight. Spent the first 2 hours down at the bottom bend opposite the pylon, no sign of fish so moved to the area approx 75yds d/s of the hut. Started catching barbel straight away, caught consistently for the rest of the day on ledger/pellet set up. Finished up with 12 barbel best being the last fish which was 9lb also had a 4lb 8oz chub. Never dreamed, when I left home, it would be as good as this.

Last attempt at a salmon for this season. Mainly fished the lower end of the beat. Conditions looked good and several salmon showed. Alas another blank. Roll on next season.

Had two smallish pike. Didn't bother to weigh but both less than 10lb. Missed a strike from a bigger fish.
