All fish caught on size 16 black or grey dry flies - largest fish 13 inches. Staying at Craig Llyn Estate cottages - comfortable and very convenient for fishing and touring around Wales. Excellent and simple booking service - all completed over the phone and permit sent by email to my mobile.

Fished the middle section, the Marl Bed. Weather cooler than previous three days. Fished ledger on the far bank, 6 barbel, 5 to 7lbs. Banana boilies and sweat corn. Good day, black mink spotted opposite bank. Too many canoeist, wondered if we had paid for fishing or a gala event!

I should have known better but I had the opportunity. It was bright, warm and the river was very low. Fished from 4.30pm to 8.30pm to no avail.
Spotted two characters with spinning rods casting into the weir pool as I walked down to the start of the beat. They left when they saw me.

River was extremely low and the fishing was tough but the surroundings more than made up for it.
We caught five barbel to 8lb and two chub, all on pellets. The taxi service from the farm to the river by the farmer is highly recommended.
A beautiful stretch of river.

Day 1 of a 2 day trip. Arrived at the river for first light, knew from looking at the river levels online that we may be in for a tough day. Didn't get on the fish until around 10 o'clock. I had 3 barbel from 1 swim all around the 4lb mark, all falling to pellet feeder tactics. CB managed to winkle out a nice 4lb chub. Canoe traffic was a real problem, multiple groups of loud kids and few novices who couldn't even steer the things to avoid my line. A very tough day, would love to come back and give this beat another crack when there is a bit more water in the river.

A hot day with a low river level. Unfortunately we didn't catch what we were after (Barbel) but were able to get some sport from small Chub (on maggot) and some fairly large eels on luncheon meat. Lovely spot. After our dawn start we decided that the day wouldn't get much better so retired to a pub rather than wait 'til dusk. May go back when conditions are move favourable.

Beat:

Fishing:All Species (in season)

July 2014: This beat has had 8 new swims opened up along the top half of the beat totaling more than 15 in all. This section is worth the walk as it offers some excellent faster water where good barbel can be found, not to mention some excellent salmon prospects with much of it wadable over gravel as well as croys to fish from. Please visit the beats gallery for more information.

16 x trout 6-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. An early morning visit on a cooler day than lately. Given that we are at the end of a hot and dry month, this one is holding up reasonably well, better than I expected in fact. All the Forest streams still have a reasonable flow. Several aggressive 10 inchers in the bag and a strangely coloured, almost black fish, otherwise healthy enough, from the top end.
