As expected we arrived to a very shallow stretch, the water being gin clear as well. I set my stall out for chub given the conditions and had an early 3lber on the float with corn. Set up the feeder after about 3 hours and fished over the top of the loose feed and had a barbel and 3 more chub all on meat, nothing on pellet. My son had set up in the last swim and had to wait until early evening for 3 chub, again on meat.
With a few feet of water on a nice short beat for two anglers.
Thanks Allyson in the office for sorting out the roadworks!

The river was very low but there were still plenty of pools to search on a warm bright day. Plenty of fly life with noticeable hatches around noon and again around 5pm. There were fish rising in most of the deeper pools but they were hard to tempt in gin clear water. We finished with 4 fish, all on dry fly. A beautiful venue with some very difficult wading!

Low clear river, hot and sunny in the day, two bites all day, one pike landed weighing 18lb 9oz taken on a small roach trotted through slack water. Day ended early with a trip to A&E with a poorly finger cut to the bone chopping the head off a mackerel whilst trying not to take my eye of the float. Still a good day out.

As usual, Ty Newydd produced the goods. The day started off with quite a heavy fog but the sun soon took care of that and from then the temperature was positively summery! A lovely 1lb grayling was the first fish to take the size 14 Golden Shrimp. My partner in crime, on his first visit, had a number of small browns and parr before getting his first decent grayling of just under the pound. Plenty of fish up to lunch, about midday, then after that, it was quite hard to pick up even a take! Only a few more fish were taken before we packed up about 6pm. The river was quite low and clear but the faster water and gullies held plenty of fish. If we had landed all the lost fish and takes, the return would have read about 60 or 70 fish between us. Stonkin'! day!!

Enjoyed a lovely day at this beat. After a promising start using the klink and dink the activity was low during noon. At the end of the day fish were active again.

Hot and sunny conditions. Stunning setting and landscape. Varied water types through the beat though swim access is very limited. No fish on this day.

Bright and clear again. P and K fished this beat today with P opting to try some float fishing from the first croy downstream of the hut. He started with sweetcorn but couldn't buy a bite so switched to 8mm banded pellet. This did the trick and P finished with 8 Chub and a small Barbel, K fished the feeder all day but unfortunately blanked.

Arrived 7.30 A.M. A and son J went round the bend ? and I settled on the croy I'd fished yesterday, I caught 3 small Chub fairly quickly then as before once the sun got up bites stopped. I took a walk to see A and J and the lad was again showing dad up with a couple of Barbel and some Chub, again bites increased once the sun got lower and J finished with 3 Barbel to 7lbs and 16 Chub A failed to get a Barbel but had 12 Chub to 4lbs, I added another 6 Chub to 3lbs from the croy.It was nice to meet Colin the bailiff who gave us a few tips whilst strimming the swims, this beat is easily the best I've fished for ease of access and is maintained in excellent condition.Method used today as yesterday, groundbait feeder with various pellet hookbaits up to 11mm.
