Yet another beautiful stretch of the Wye. Access is OK although would not suit the physically less able. Weather was spot on, overcast. Fished the second swim up from the bottom of the beat. Three cracking barbel to 9lb and a 4lb chub in a short evening session, all fell to classic feeder and halibut pellet tactics. Oddly the smallest barbel put up the strongest fight.

We actually fished two days. The 8th. July we fished a stretch just below the Fairview Guest House, where we stayed in great comfort, with the very knowledgeable and great river angler Dave Harrell, who was our guide for the day. On this day it started off very well then we had a tremendous thunderstorm and torrential rain which definitely affected the fishing quite badly. despite this we caught two barbel and 16 chub.
The next day we fished the Lower Carrots and Luggs Mouth stretch,on our own but with a lot of advice and accumulated knowledge from Dave Harrell. We had 6 barbel up to about 8/9 lbs. and 15 chub up to 5lbs. plus, all good fish. All fish were taken trotting down using Dave's special floats and rig suggestions. It was lovely having this whole stretch entirely to ourselves. A most enjoyable trip!
