River running gin clear. All fish caught on fly. Fished this beat last year and the access down to the beat has been much improved as has the path to the upper end of the beat. Thanks as always to the lovely staff in the office who make booking so easy.

13 Trout

My first visit to the river on a sunny day although with a tricky wind at times. Water a little coloured and saw only one rise during the day - very pleased to catch two fish on nymph though, both returned. In spite of the warnings, access to some of the wooded areas was more difficult than I was expecting but I will be back.
Booking arrangements very efficient.

1 Trout, 1 Grayling

Arrived at the same time as the cold wind. Nothing moved. There is a tree completely blocking the river halfway down the second field and another almost as bad slightly upstream. Much harder fishing than the information would suggest. One tweak on a goldhead.

Despite being accompanied by the excellent Oliver Burch, we had a tough day with only 2 small trout on a PT nymph #18 in the 1st riffle above the bottom boundary. Saw olives of various descriptions, but only a few. Some rising fish, but only sporadically - unsurprising given bright sun and low water. Saw a large salmon with 2 big fungal patches. In the afternoon, we fished a private beat lower down that had deep runs, and caught 2 14-15" fish on big prince nymphs.

12lb salmon caught this morning from Carrots on Flying C. A few fish showing but not travelling.

1 Salmon, 1 Chub, 1 Pike

Lovely morning's fishing. Chub much more interested in my flies than any salmon which may have been present.

15lb liced Salmon caught from the tail of the Vanstone Pool spinning with a blacktail flying C, lost another in the head of the pool. Big thankyou to Mick the Ghilllie for pointing me in the right direction!

Just a quick fish after work 6 - 8pm. 2 x trout, 8 and 11 inch. Missed quite a few splashy rises to a dry klink. No fly on water, fish activity not as much as anticipated- considering it was 20 degrees at 6.00 pm.
