Beautiful sunny day with light wind. Though little sign of fish activity. Lovely looking beat but again access proved extremely difficult and dangerous for much of it.
High bank with very steep incline means there are only a few places to enter the water for wading safely there. So no fishing attempted on the day due to risks.

I was guided by the excellent Oliver Burch. With his help, four trout between 10" and 14" landed, and a few more bumped off. Water getting low after a two week dry spell. Disappointing hatches, despite bright warm sun, possibly due to cold easterly wind. All four fish caught on spiders; few fish rising and those that were, weren't tempted by different flies.

Lovely sunny day and a beautiful beat with some nice pools and riffles, and some tricky wading in places! Tough but enjoyable day's fishing, lots of fly life about but nothing rising, two fish both taken on a small hare's ear and another lost to the same. Looking forward to having another go soon!

None caught, although a fish seen at 9am by 1st Crib. Fished a 1.5" Willie Gunn with a 15ft 7ips tip. Thank you Jerry Lewis the ghillie, who kindly provided some excellent advice.

Fished Wyesham for the first time. Allocated the Dukes Water in the morning. Beautiful fly water at 1' 10" on the gauge but didn't see any salmon. Fished through all of the pools Joe Cobley advised on. Good clear advice given over the phone by Joe and easily translated into landmarks when on the bank. Met up at the hut for lunch and then went out on Cottage Pool in the boat for the afternoon. The advice was to put the fly a yard into the slack behind the crease cause by the croy and let the fly "dig in" before it swung across the crease, over the submerged rocks, and into the main flow. A fish showed at the end of the crease on the 2nd submerged rock. 10 minutes later as I covered that rock I had a fairly a tentative take on a 1 inch willie gunn copper tube and, 10 minutes after that, a sea liced 10lb springer graced the net. Thanks Joe !

Wow! what a beat. I personally only fished a short stretch of the water and as we were leaving on the long drive home, we only fished for a short while. I would return to explore this water any time - and will do so at the first opportunity. I lost one really good brownie and returned another decent trout of around a pound in weight to fight another day.
