We fished on beat 3 close to the Salmon lodge as we were only fishing from 10am until 1pm as we had to make the trip home. I'm sure a few fish would have shown if we had fished into the evening. Another fantastic beat on the Wye, thanks to the Wye & usk for another great few days.

First time on this beat which I booked last minute after finding myself with some free afternoon. It was a sunny afternoon as I started off in the first downstream meadow where the river had a bit of flow but the fish weren't showing any interest. Moved up to Boys rocks for the last part of the evening. A nice looking stretch of water, but after constantly losing tackle and no bites I decided it wasn't going to be my day and headed home. Hope to come back when the weather and water levels are more favourable.

Warm, mainly sunny day, light northerly breeze. Water clear, averaging knee deep. Nice stretch of river, upper section easier to access (more shingle/gravel banks). Medium olive dun in afternoon with occasional rises throughout the day mainly subsurface feeders, although two leapt more than their body length clear of the surface. Caught two trout, both returned: 1 on a gold head nymph - a good 1 1/2 lbs, lovely markings. the second smaller than the first but 1 lb + caught on a adult peacock body buzzer. Hard work but a good day.

Barbel 6.11lbs, 6.7lbs, 5.3lbs and 8.2lbs. Chub 4.8lbs, 3.2lbs, 3.5lbs, 4.5lbs, 3lbs and 4.9lbs.
Quality fish in good condition - method was ledgered pellet (halibut, krill, bloodworm) either on a straight lead or swimfeeder. The third rod cancelled. River was low, we fished from the Marl bank - the vehicle track on the right bank (priory side) has been maintained but the bankside is overgrown and should the river rise I doubt there will be many swims. We also could not find any access to the left bank and if we had I could not see any swims to fish from.

A very hot and sunny day. High banks and low water made accessing the river difficult but I fished from the croy comfortably and reasonably successfully, in fact I had great day. Halibut pellets soaked in halibut oil for about 3 months worked well.
NB. I stayed at Canon Bridge and fished the private beat. I was surprised and concerned that there was an otter working the river there (presumably Upper and Lower Canon Bridge as well).

Hot and sunny and low water but the odd fish through the day. Nice and peaceful stretch but the ramp over the water pipe on the approach to the upper car park needs urgent attention. Any normal car/estate car will bottom out however slowly you negotiate it. The tarmac/gravel ramp is worn away and your car will scrape the metal casing protecting the pipe unless it has high ground clearance.
