River level fallen but still coloured elected to repeat last weeks attempt but right bank fly only . Advice given to fish a sinking line. Only option use a fast sinking polytip, success rate 0/0 but overall fishing day 10/10 . Next time?

Water level was just right but as a bit of colour still evident I went for a larger tungsten tube fly at 1.5 inch, a cascade pattern with lots of sparkle. A shortish 5 foot tip on a 5 foot super fast sinking leader on the end of an intermediate/ sink #2 tip shooting head. All this effort paid off at 3pm with a fine silver 7.5lb hen fish that went ballistic. Weigh-netted a released safely after a quick photo in the net, for the non believers!

River still a little high and carrying some colour but definitely fishable.
At least 2 fresh fish of a good size seen in the Vanstone. No interest unfortunately though.

A lovely beat this, especially on a fine sunny day. The water clarity was like that of a chalk stream with fish clearly visible moving around the largest pool, little or no hatch of fly. No trout caught but did catch a massive grayling on a hares ear. The fish was just about as long as my forearm!

The three of us had a great day, nice stretch of water especially beats 2 and 6 if fishing for salmon on the fly. The rest of the water seemed more suited to spinning on the day we visited. One fish seen pushing through on beat 6 in the morning and one in the evening. Very impressed by the WUF team, very helpful, thank you.

WUF note - The access down the farm track to the lower part of Beat 6 has now been closed.
