Tough days fishing on a lovely beat. Barbel 7lb and 8lb. Chub all three 4lb. All caught on feeder and pellet.
The farmer was busy with his cows so I had to walk. Its not that bad but it's a fair way across a muddy track.
The river was on the rise so difficult to hold bottom in the faster water.
The farmer would like a sign to be put on the fence to show where to park as people are finding it difficult.
Thanks WUF.

Bright, sunny conditions and river pretty low especially compared to this time last year when it was in flood with lots of colour. As a result the fishing wasn't as constant during the day and ended up with two barbel, however the first one was a good 'un of 9lb 6oz which was a great start. Had another at dusk weighing 6lb 14oz so still a good day overall! Thanks WUF.

Another mild day; air temperature up to 16+C. Cloudy. Water temperature 10C. River slightly coloured and a little higher after rain on 16th.
Fished a pair of bead-head nymphs through a number of likely looking pools in the middle and upper parts of the beat, to no avail. Spent a very interesting period watching a pair of otters. Soon after their departure, saw a solitary rise and covered it with a dry fly, catching a beautiful grayling of exactly 2lb. I would have thought that the otters would have 'spooked' any fish in their vicinity. Maybe the pools which hold grayling attract otters because of the ready food source?

Lovely warm Autumn day. River very low despite recent rain. Fished the top end of the fishery. Not a touch until around 5pm, then 2 barbel approx 9.5lb and 8lb, both in excellent condition. Thanks again WUF and guide Adam Fisher.
There is a makeshift gate just before the top car parking area. I assume we can drive through this gate to the parking area?

WUF note - Yes, you can drive through this wooden gate to the parking area.

Our activity was restricted to the lower section of the beat, more specifically to the pool lying below the fence separating the second and third fields below the access point.
Despite some colour, both anglers were blessed with an end of season fish. Both cock fish dressed in tartan, the first at around 6lbs and the second around 12lbs. A wonderful end to the season.
Wye! Oh, Wye!

No salmon but very nice brownie about a pound from Maddox in the late afternoon. Very pleasant day on a lovely piece of fly water. Much work has been done on the access to the upper parts of the beat. Thank you. Just a shame the parking is now so far from the game fishing beat - Don't forget anything!

Arrived at 7.45am with 0.76m on the gauge and falling slowly. A little too much colour at first but by end of day had dropped 5cm and colour perfect.
Had a head and tail take to my Golden Killer (single hook) fly after 15 minutes and a 9lb colouring cock fish was duly landed and safely returned.
Fished hard for another 9hrs but didn't see a fish. The curtain came down on a memorable season fishing Rock pool in the company of L.T. from Creigiau with perfect water, a rainbow to our left and a beautiful sunset to our right.
Thankyou to the WUF and owner Barry for making all this possible. Here's to next season!

Second of a two day trip. River still low and a bit sluggish. Loads of debris in the River due to the high winds no doubt. Tried a static approach and caught a nice chub early on, unfortunately it went quiet after that. Thought it would pick up late afternoon and into the evening but nothing happened, perhaps I should have moved around but tried that the day before to no avail so sat it out and left with just the one fish.

Caught a hen salmon from the Usk on the last day of the season. Fish was just over 10lb's and fell to a Silver Shrimp fly. Returned.
