Another tough day for myself and RA, springers doing dolphin impressions as they passed us around 4 pm. They just wouldn't have it.

Very quick Sunday jaunt before the roast!! An excuse to get out with the cane if nothing else!

Nothing hard and fast, just a single grwyne dun on the point.

River clear, mixed weather, little sun, yet!! Sstill cold up here.. Stoneflies about as expected, large (feb reds?) alongside willows/needles though very sparse given the lack of sun/temp.

No surface activity to speak of. Roll on April!

Blank. Seven Sisters seemed quiet today. The one fish seen to move, in Martin's Pool, turned out to be a 32 inch well-mended kelt which dutifully took a Rapala put across its nose.
Trout anglers might be interested to know the grannom is up. While chatting with a rod from Stafford, we saw a fair old hatch of the little sedges taking place.

Beat:Escley Beat 2

Fishing:Trout (River)

First time on this beat. Beautiful secluded spot but today a cold downstream wind and vry little fly life.
Lots of bedrock slabs and a multitude of instream livestock fences made moving upstream slow progress.
Hooked two fish in one pool but they came off after a brief time. Gave it best after 3 hours as very diligent search tactics were not productive on the day.
Directions spot on.

Cool, breezy and over cast. The beat is looking a bit rough around the edges due to the winter floods. Lots of trees down and a bit of rubbish around. Especially below the bridge. Although the wild garlic was very pretty. Taking it in turns my wife and I managed to rise 6 to the dry fly. Fishing Duo. We went to a smaller fly and took off the Nymph and got 2 good size Browns - 8" & 10" both released. A nice afternoons fishing. Would have liked to have known about the sewage farm as it was a bit smelly but the beat is still an attractive little lowland brook I would fish again.
