River was very low, with quite a lot of weed coming through which made fishing difficult. Fished a number of swims from about 11am - 9pm, with a couple of good barbel (both over 8lb) coming in the final hour to pellet. Very nice beat, will hopefully be back when conditions are more favourable.

The last of this years one day courses, this one covering High Summer tactics. The river was low and warm, so conditions were ideal. All those in attendance caught some fish the best fish being a grayling of around 1 3/4 pounds.
All in all about 20 fish were caught, not counting the numerous salmon parr.

At last managed to get on this beat! River low and lots of floating weed coming downstream. We plumbed to fish the bottom end of the beat as the flow was faster, both rods using pellets. Jack kicked off with his first barbel after about 3/4 hour and continued to take a further 5 up to lunch time. I was in a perfect looking glide and managed to blank! My fault, not the river's. I must learn to sit on my hands for longer and let the rod pull round! We fished the middle slower sections 1-4.30pm with no takes so it was back downstream and oncve again Jack was into the barbel, taking a further 8 fish to just under 9lb. I managed to save the blank with 2 barbel and 1 chub. Thank god for that!

Canoeists were all good. 1 little tip - if you want them to go on the far side tell them near side bank and vice versa because none of them can paddle straight anyway!

Thanks to everyone at Wye & Usk.

Fished 9 til 1 caught 9 small trout 6 - 7 inches 1 trout at 12 inches and 4 grayling from 9 to 15 inches on a mix of dries, nymphs and spiders a nice beat with plenty of water to go at but I didnt feel like I got the best out of this beat. I think I need more practice on this size river. Little surface activity but a dry fly in the fast runs tended to bring some good grayling up.

Early start, fished all the way down from the hut to the pylon run with no joy. Someone fishing there had some good barbel. Had two small chub at the mouth of the Lugg and that was it for the day.

Mainly cloudy but warm conditions gave to a great day's sport. Numerous small brownies, and a grayling of about 2 1/2 pounds. Water levels were low, and being clear made life a bit tricky, but the fish were certainly there and in particular the rocky pools of shallow water in the lower reaches of the beat.

River low and very clear. Difficult day with only 2 barbel and 1 chub between the 4 of us.

Huge amount of salmon activity. They were crashing out of the water every few minutes all day long including a very impressive orange coloured fish which was easily topping 20lbs.
