Lovely beat, overall caught 23 fish between us with 8 wbt to 8" and 15 grayling mostly 6-8". Wicked downstream wind picked up for a while which stopped any fish rising. Surprised to find another angler fishing who advised he has permission from landowner.

2nd time on this beat on two differnt swims. Boat taffic heavy around midday. Looked like someone was fishing off one canoe. 14 chub to 4lb and 2 barbel to 7lb.

An excellent day nearly all round. The forecast heavy rain and windy conditions did not really materialise and the river stayed low and clear. We shared 9 barbel to 9lbs (including two clonkers from the 'spot' - thanks Don) and not less than 15 chub to 4lbs, some of which were taken bumping large lumps of meat down through the current - John's foresight in bringing waders paid off. We also caught an obligatory eel. Lots of fish were caught from the bottom pool.

The only downside was the boat traffic - more canoes than I have ever seen in one day. Some of the groups that came through were supervised and competent. Others hadn't a clue and beached and back-paddled where and when they felt like it. Some passed the pub before realising that was an authorised stopping point and their efforts to paddle back upstream to get that hard-earned pint put a stop to the fishing for some time. John had to forego his mid-stream chub-fest when it became increasingly dangerous to be anywhere other than on the bank with lines wound in.

On the upside, having a pub at the start of the beat and immediately next to the car-parking is positively inspired and it was a pleasure to see the day's catch swollen by several Barbel in the 2-3lb range, we hope this augers well for the future. The shallow margins and banks of streamer weed make the stretch quite challenging but stick to the main flows and there's fish almost everywhere. Thanks WUF - good call.

Nil! Fished in the middle section. Very quiet indeed! A couple of tentative bites which I assumed was chub but no barbel. Limited access on top section.

Very wet day only fished for about two hours on my way back home. I had one take on a GHHE. Found the access quite difficult in places climbing over wet stiles with chest waders. A scenic valley quiet and lush. Need to buy more flies as most of them ended up in the trees.

A hard days fishing covering the entire beat. Access to some swims was difficult but with a little thought on foot placement most were visited. Word of warning to be careful in the wet as it became very slippery after the rain.
Three barbel to 8lb and a hatful of chub up to 5lb came our way in a beautiful location that even the rain couldn't spoil. Bait was meat of various descriptions and pellets through a feeder. Suprised how much the river bed had changed since last year as bolders that I remember in certain locations had either disappeared or gone completely! The only down side was the amount of line and litter we collected up including disposable bbq's. I do not think these were left there by the paying guest but by others fishing illegally as we removed around twenty single line rigs from the water attached to various implements from willow rods to pieces of metal wedged in the bank. Some appeared very recently added. All were destroyed and taken away!

A warm day, overcast with some rain, good conditions. 10 chub caught up to five pounds, and three barbel - best one about seven pounds. Carp baits were best (pellets) and bread paste. A great day.

Several Chub to about 3 1/2 lb and a 15" barbel. Pellet and corn. Maybe I hould have adopted a more mobile appraoch rather than sticking to 3 or 4 pools.
I saw a Salmon leap clear of the water which was a first for me. Nice to meet Tony the bailif.

2 Brown trout on copper John nymph. Some fish rising and had missed takes to dry sedge. Mink tracks seen in the mud and goosanders disturbed. Weather deteriorating through day with heavy showers coming in
