A cold, blustery but enjoyable day. A few fish rising around midday but both rods blanked.

The river levels were low and clear and we had to search a few swims to find the barbel. Fishing mostly with "traditional" baits, bread, cheese and luncheon meat, we winkled out eight barbel to just under seven pounds and a few plump chub. WUF has made some lovely water available for day ticket fishing and we are very grateful for the service provided.

2 grayling were caught, 1 of about 8oz released and one about 1lb 4oz kept.

8lb Barbel caught on meat. Two other barbel hooked but not landed both on meat.

Four of us fished this stretch on the Friday. The lower stretch produced three or four Chub to maggot also caught two nice Grayling. Five Barbel caught up to around 5lb all on maggot. The upper stretch produced 9 barbel the biggest was 8lb. These were caught on meat, maggot and pellet.

River low and clear, didn't catch any pike at all.

Cold overnight so we expected a slow start. Lost 2 barbel late morning. Caught 5 chub to 5lb 6oz during the day. Barbel 9lb 10oz just as packing up around 5.45pm. All fish caught on 3 or 4 ledgered elips pellets over loose fed pellets. Enjoyed the day. Thanks to Denise and Tony at the Jovial Colliers in Lydbrook for the bed and breakfast, excellent as usual!

A chilly morning, mixed sun and cloud and a downstream wind. 10 x trout 6-12 inches, on spiders, mainly Waterhen Bloa, and dries (Bastard Adams).
