Caught and returned three brownies 10 – 12 inches in size. Two on black nymph and one on klinkhammer. Conditions difficult with rain and wind all day so fished downstream nymph mainly. Lost many more, mostly taking on small black nymph with a silver rib, particularly in shallows just above rapid sections. Section of river from makeshift barbeque down to below house fished best. A challenging, enthralling and exciting day.

Started at Backney on Friday 20th with river very low and clear and in appalling weather, heavy rain and driving wind. Managed 1 barbel between the 4 of us.

Middle Hill Court on Saturday 21st saw us fare little better with either the fish or the weather. Adam (baliff) kindly came and spent a little time with us, a thoroughly nice guy who gave us lots of advice. However, despite Adam's advice, a rapidly rising / colouring river and fishing well into dusk we only managed 2 barbel between us!

Whitehouse on Sunday 22nd at least saw improved weather conditions but despite the flush of much needed water the fishing was still slow. We had 5 barbel all told falling to 2 rods with the best at 8-3. There were a few chub caught but nothing worthwhile and the majority of the barbel were taken on pellet although a variety of baits were tried.

8 barbel between 3 of us. The newly cut swims below the Vanstone pool were the most productive. Fish fed all day but with more gusto in the evening. Boilie the best bait.

3 x trout 6 - 14 inches, 1 x grayling 9 inches. Just before the rain arrived, Arrow very low, almost canal-like in places, and surface covered with water measurers. Nothing rising, but it was nice to be out and one decent trout took a Hare's Ear nymph in the neck of one of the pools.

Good day 20 plus chub to 4lb on sweetcorn, most taken trotting a stick float using a centerpin. No barbel landed.
Fished the entire stretch on both banks. Water is very low so I was able to have a good look for future visits.
Thank you.

Nasty downstream wind for most of the day. Mainly overcast with a wet afternoon and sunny evening. River very low. Little fly apart from a few Yellow Mays, and sedges and some spinners later on. Few rises all day. Most fish caught were non-risers. Over 40 grayling, half a dozen small trout, lots of parr and a few chublets. Most grayling ~9 inches but at least fifteen in the 12-14 inch bracket. All in good nick. Most taken on emergers.
