Nothing caught but probably due to my inexperience of river fishing because conditions appeared perfect. First time I've used the booking system which was very efficient. I shall return!

12 x trout 6-10 inches, numerous parr, 1 x 14 inch grayling. The grayling was above the first falls on the upper part of the beat, which seemed quite interesting if this species is in the process of moving in; grayling are said to be not very good at passing falls and weirs. One heavy trout hooked on a Klinkhammer jumped itself off after a few seonds.

We arrived at the griffin inn at 8.30 for breakfast which was superb! (You must ring first) The river looked
perfect, running at 1ft6in above. As this beat is fly only it makes the method of fishing easy, William and myself fished up to 12.30 with no luck apart from finding that what I thought was a stone in my waders turned out to be a pound coin!(with that sort of luck how could we fail?) We broke off for lunch and headed off to the Wheelwrights Arms in the village (the food is spot-on.) We ended with a trout and and two salmon parr! We saw no salmon, but we had a great day. I know it was only three hours between meals, but William dragged me to the pub, and anyway it was for his birthday!

Beat:Doldowlod

Fishing:Trout (River)

Eight lovely grayling to 1.5lb all on dry fly. Klinkhamer and olive emerger size 16. Loads of pale wateries hatching off but no interest in my versions of this fly. Later in the day plenty of needle fly coming off but little interest.
A much more intersting beat than Abernant which I fished the day before in high coloured water. Abernant gave similar results in catch numbers with one very nice grayling of 1.75lb but the beat lacked the variety and interest of Doldowlod. No fish killed. Incidentally you are lucky to have such charming ladies in the office, great service and advice.

Caught 2 grayling about 12 ins and 1 trout same size. Trout on gold head hares ear, grayling on weighted shrimp - on advice from Mr. Proctor....
River only just beginning to clear and running fast, so quite pleased with the return. All fish returned. Also thanks for the crucial advice from Mr P.

Weather changeable from bright sunshine to showers, lots
of surface weed and debris being washed down and snagging my line, 4 decent chub on hali pellets from the far bank opp. the island but no Barbel, moved upstream and fished
from one of the croys had a good size barbel on which promptly broke my 10lb line! Decided to call it a day. Quite a bit of traffic noise from the B4224 but a nice place to fish never the less. Wye & Usk staff always helpful when booking.

Lovely early autumn day. River carrying a bit of colour but nice to see some flow at last. 1 wbt 12 inches on 14ptn, fish taken - proof to family that I do occasionally catch something.

4 barbel 5 - 7lbs 9oz and 1 small chub all caught on pellets, between two rods. Very nice fishery, bank access very good, vehicle access easy when dry. Fished all day for nothing until 4.30 and then it got quite exciting. Big fish moving, probably pike but could have been salmon. Enjoyed our day very much. Excellent service from the office staff, thankyou very much.
