2 rods, 6 chub, river very very low, weather baking hot. We arrived later than expected, hour delay on motorway (thanks highway agency for not telling us you closed the motorway). Still a great day, enjoyed every minute of it and we will return soon. Yet again a big thanks to the Foundation and Mr Boney who was very willing to meet us at 4.30am. Glad we didn't get him out of bed, after the delay.

1 Trout, 2 Grayling.

While the fishing was hard due to the bright sun we both had a great day on the Wye and two other roving voucher beats that we also tried over the weekend.

We will most definitely be back before the end of the season. Thank you for all your hard work in opening up this wonderful fishing and countryside at a great price!!

Despite blisteringly hot conditions we had a good day at Ty-Newydd. 3 of us being novices took advice from the one very experienced rod in our group. Between us catches were 14 grayling at around 7 inches and 5 salmon parr, 4-5 inches.
These were all taken either on size 18 black spider pattern, size 16 olive nymph and size 16 gold head gold ribbed olive pattern.

This was our first outing on the river and we were most impressed. Thanks loads to the W&U Foundation.

9 barbel to 8lbs 9oz, handful of chub to about 2.5lbs. We think we would have had many more barbel but there was an angler on the opposite bank right were we had planned to fish!

In all the fishing was very good given the bright sunshine and very low water conditions. I would just say that the lower part of Caradoc beat (downstream of suspension footbridge) was extremely busy when we visited with numerous swimmers picnicers dog walkers BBQs and of course canoeists – all were quite polite but I would recommend that this stretch is best fished during the week rather than at a weekend!

Beat:Holme Lacy 3 and Lechmere's Ley

2 days on Home Lacy. Total barbel caught 18 and 20 chub, bait used was pellet and sweetcorn.
4 rods on Middle Hill court for 2 days, water very low and clear and hot made it hard. 6 barbel caught and 11 chub and 1 eel, bait was as above
White house we did not fish

The Foundation service was very good as we had problems securing beats and were most helpful.

One 3/4 lb brown trout (returned) caught on dry parachute black gnat size 18. Very hot sunny day with few fish showing. Could not stay for the evening. Suspect that this is when the fish would start feeding. River a bit low but still plenty of fishing opportunities. Very picturesque and excellent telephone advice given about beat at time of booking. A very enjoyable day. I wish I could have stayed for the evening.

No fish caught.

This is a very beautiful stretch of water. Unfortunately I only had time to fish for a couple of hours in the morning. The only other angler on the beat had a couple of grayling from the faster water whilst I was there. Very hot and sunny - probably would have been better fishing in the evening. I would be interested to know if there are trout in some of the deeper salmon pools. Had one bite in streamier water on a large dry (humpy). Be careful when turning off the main road, the track down to the river is narrow and steep.

A very bright day with water conditions low, so we knew it was going to be difficult to catch barbel. We managed 12 chub between us to 4lbs on mainly pellet tipped with sweetcorn and fed pellet. It was not until the evening that the barbel responded to the pellet and managed to bank barbel up to 7lbs.

We had a great day and look forward into fishing Middle Hill Court on September 1st, a big thank you to Wye & Usk Foundation.
