Managed a couple of hours on Whitney, last fished there in the early seventies !!!! River looked beautifull, in less than ideal conditions caught 4 chub all around 3lb, 1 barbel around 6lb and a bonus grayling around 12oz. The only person I saw all afernoon was one well behaved and polite canoeist.

Started and about 8.15 am fished hard all morning without a touch, no fish rising at all. In the afternoon had 1 small brown 8 inch on a size 14 copper nymph and 3 browns of about half a pound all on the hares ear nymph. Had to work hard all day but what a great days fishing, I'll definitly be going back.

Caught small grayling and one trout 14in on dry fly. Caught 13in grayling on nymph. River low and clear. Windy with some sun. No rises although quite a few fly about. Had to finish at 3pm.

Thank you. We (2 rods) caught around 45 grayling - mostly 4-10oz but a few to 1 1/4 lb - plus about 15 trout, in the afternoon on a mixture of nymphs and small dries. Good to see the large numbers of small grayling.

Excellent afternoon at Arrow Mill, beautiful surroundings. One trout to 4 inches, one grayling to 10 inches, both returned safely, both on wets. No luck on the dry at all.

Caught 3 trout 10in, 12in and 16in on dry fly. Cloudy, little sun, very cold east wind. No rises. Saw Dipper, Kingfisher and Mink. River very low and clear.

Both days (15th & 17th Sept, 2 rods) were a catch and release exercise.

Brown Trout 7 and 3 respectively on the 15th Sept, best 1lb.
Grayling 3, best 1lb. All taken on the right bank side from Bachawy to Gromain Fishing Lodge. Early in the day the fly on song was a Caddis Emerger size 18. Later the Black Midge, Grizzle Hackled size 18 did the trick.

17th Sept fished the left bank from 100 meters upstream of Gromain Lodge downstream to Llanstephan Bridge catch:
Brown Trout 17 and 9 respectively, best 1lb 8ozs.
Grayling 5, best 1lb 7ozs. Flies same as 15th Sept in reverse, started with Midges size 16 18 and 20 then post 1500hrs Caddis Emerger.

Allison and her colleague, thank you both for the help and information and please keep up the good work. I know you are but two and Seth deserves a lot of praise. Thank you all at Wye Usk Foundation for a absolutely fantastic two days. I will be back next season and my Canadian buddy will be back in 2011. He did not say a lot till we got into North Wales, then he did not stop talking about the Wye for two days. Weather wise you have had some bad deals since April, next season may be kinder, but then again "You can't please everyone". Thanks again may the Foundation flourish.

We did hear of a twenty five Brown trout bag from the Irfon on Monday the 14th not long after speaking to you in Builth, it does not seem to have appeared in the returns columns as yet.

Coarse rod - 3 chub up to 4lbs, trout rod - 2 trout 14" and 15", one grayling 10" and a couple of dace.
A chilly wind made conditions not entirely favourable but we still thoroughly enjoyed our day out. A lovely bit of water to fish although not easy, especially on first visit. We didnt manage to see all of the beat but most of it. Learnt a lot, mostly about our lack skill, more practice required. Thanks to wuf. We'll be back.

Very disappointing venue. I found most of the beat inaccessible due to very high and steap banks (I'am afraid my mountain goat days are over!). Only accessibly point was on large stone and pebble bank with very shallow water. Gave-up, nothing caught.

28 x grayling to 14 inches; 17 x trout to 12 inches, North Country spiders and dries. A very enjoyable day on one of the beats where you can really experiment to compare flies and techniques.
