Blustery and drizzly with low water conditions. Very little rising all day but caught 3 nice trout with largest at 1.25lb. All caught on a iron blue dun. Beautiful part of the river to spend the day on, with plenty of water variety, ideal for a novice like me.

6 x 7-10" 1 x 14" (wow). All returned well. First thanks to the gentleman who arrived 10 mins after me but agreed to go to another beat - hope he had a good day, because I did! Nothing in the morning despite lot of fly life including some mayfly. Some rises from about 2.00, and the para. Adams worked well exploring the water. Returned 6 to 10" and 1 at 14", and missed as many again. Great day despite the low water.

Incredibly low water for April and thus lower Llangoed very easy to fish. Early fish on a variety of nymphs and then a sporadic rise from early afternoon onwards saw plenty of offers on emergers / surface film flies. Because I don't fish rivers often a small foam beetle seemed to fit the bill - at least the fish thought so.

Upper Llangoed saw a few chub but the rapids and below is where the trout were. Saw a few early Mayfly but only 1 or 2 so of no fish consequence. Lovely day, 13 fish to 12".

Only had 2 hours around midday, so only fished middle half. River very low, but regular rises when the wind died. 1xWBT approx 1 lb on gold beaded PTN. Managed to shake off another that took a parachute adams. Lovely beat - look forward to tackling it when it has more water.

12 x WBT from 9in to 14in (plus two lost), all on olive Klinkhammer. Fished from 13:00 to 18:00; not a hectic rise but constant through the afternoon. Good day.

7 trout and 2 grayling caught and returned, most on dry fly. River was low, weather was fair but with a cool easterly breeze.

6 fish, best about 20oz (all BT). All returned. Water v low and fish were shy all day but there was a rise to a good hatch of olives. All fish caught on dry olive imitations, fishing 6x cast and longish leader. Sunny in the morning then wind changed to west/north west making for an extra challenge off the left bank. Beautiful piece of water with plenty of variety. Excellent day with plenty of fish missed.

Second day on Glan-yr-Afon. Still tough fishing due to the low water and bright sunshine. However, managed 12 fish in total, most on nymphs fished down through the faster runs and pocket water. Three of the fish were 12", two were 10" and the rest were 8" or less. Really lovely bit of water. Can imagine that it is fantastic if you catch it on the right day.

2 rods, 1 brown trout approx. 1½ lbs, returned, barbless hook on a Diawl Bach. Very windy on day 2 making it a hard but still enjoyable day.
