Caught and released two brown trout 10" above bridge on Hornet Oak beat to New Zealand style klinkhammer and nymph, and a third smaller trout to a gold head nymph below bridge fishing upstream wets. A lot of varied fishing to explore and I would like to come back and try again later this year.

Beat:Fenni Fach
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Blank. I struggled I'm afraid. It's several years since I was at Fenni Fach and I had forgotten what a very beautiful beat this is - with the odd specimen trout, no doubt, although I certainly found it difficult today. The temperature had dropped compared to the last days. A very few large dark olives hatched after lunch. I found just two rising fish...and put them both down.

Bit disappointing, very few fish showing and ferocious downstream wind so very little fly life. Managed just one small trout ~ 8oz.

Started fishing at 9.00 in thick mist and drizzle wearing full wet weather gear. Three rainbows of approx 1.5 lbs caught on one rod and one further 1.5lb fish caught on the other, both before lunch. Weather cleared with strengthening breeze in the afternoon but no further fish caught. Permits purchased via the Booking Office web site were checked by the water bailiffs in the afternoon. Only one other person fishing the water.

Another great days fishing. A couple of dozen Trout to about a pound. Olives making an appearance throughout the day. Plenty of grannom comming back to egg lay though I didnt see any hatching.
Fish came to both dries and nymphs during the day, mainly in the faster water. Fish were active all day despite the relentless bright sunshine....role on May.

Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Courtfield
Fishing:Salmon

None caught but still an enjoyable day with interesting pools. 1 decent salmon followed my flying c into the bank in the top pool but couldn't get him to take. Very hot day with the normal Sunday canoe traffic. Handily situated pub in between the lower and upper beats.
