Nothing caught, but we did see a (or possibly more than one) salmon jumping at various points throughout the day. Looked like a good sized if thin fish, probably a kelt rather than springer, I guess. A bit east-windy and bright for a good fishing day, but a lovely place to be anyway.

Only there for a short while but had two heavy knocks on my small 7 foot brook rod. (I wouldn't fish much bigger than that). Cwmbran Angling were great and are open from 7am on a Sunday to get the day ticket. Great few hours.

A great day to be on the Usk. There was unbroken sunshine all day, and temperatures above 10 degrees. The Large Dark Olive hatch started around 10am and continued until 3pm, becoming fairly prolific at mid-day. There was also an occasional March Brown coming off. The trout rose freely for around an hour but it was all over by 2pm. Three trout caught; two over 2 lb (both 17") and one at around a 1 lb. The two larger fish were taken (stomachs were full of LDOs). Caught on baetis nymph and dries. I left just after 4.30pm, but didn't see any evening rise. I couldn't have wanted for a better first outing of the season. Thanks WUF!

Lovely day to be out on the river albeit the level was quite low. Spent all day with the double hander but no sign of any salmon, just a very small brownie which put a creditable bend in the fifteen footer for such a small fish.
A few hatches during the day but no trout rising so didn't bother setting up the trout rod.

Cloudless blue sky but a cool wind and river in good trim.
First time on this beat for us and again a lovely setting although in our opinion there isn't the variety of water / swims that exist on some of the other beats. That said it does have significantly better access to the actual water than some of the other beats and we also thought it wasn't a particularly long or arduous walk to the bottom of the beat despite the comments on the beat description. I know from previous feedback there are plenty of fish around though we didn't manage to find them and had only 1 barbel between us. Never mind, still a great day out!

Not fished the Wye this time of year before, but was pleased with the results, although not as hectic as it can be in the warmer months. River low and fairly clear, just a hint colour. Two pike of 8lb and 17lb, both to big plugs then had a go for the barbel, ended with three to 8lb and six chub to 4.5lb on pellets. Thanks WUF.
