Area:Usk
Beat:The Breconshire Fishery
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
6 x trout 14-15 inches, spiders. As with other middle Usk beats at the moment, it's mainly about that short window of opportunity in the afternoon when a few large dark olives hatch off, before the cold winds come back to shut it down again by about 4 o'clock.

Beat:R32 The Honddu, Maes-y-Beran & R43 The Dore, Chanstone Court
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:2
We fished at Maes-y-Beran for an hour or so in the morning but didn't see any signs of fish or fly hatching despite similar sunny warm conditions to the previous day. Around 11am we moved to fish Chanstone Court and had a superb few hours sport with a total of 12 brownies to a 1lb and one small Grayling between us. Again a steady hatch of olives with fish caught on nymphs and dries.

Area:Middle Wye
Beat:Caradoc
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:1
What a splendid way to finish the season. 7 barbel between 6 - 7.5 lbs, 5 chub up to 4.15oz (bounced the scales but couldn't get it to go over the magic 5lb barrier!) a 3 lb 2oz brown trout and a 5lb jack.
You definitely have to stay the pace and make the most of the last hour of daylight / dusk to get the best from the fishery. First barbel came at 8.15am, second at 5pm. I'll be back to try this stretch in the summer.

Very inviting pools, some must hold big fish but didn't see head nor tail of any all day. The odd olive seen, nothing caught.

Nothing caught and nothing seen although our fishing was cut short by two small children keen to get home and it was blowing a gale and very cold despite intermittent sunshine

Beat:R27 Eardisland
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:2
Fished this beat for the first time with my father. It was a nice day with sunny spells and a few march browns were coming off. I even saw a fish rise! We only managed three grayling between us all at 13 ". It looks like a very nice beat and I am sure there would be more signs of fish given a bit more fly life about. We got our vouchers from Leen Farm and the gentleman there was very helpful.

No fish caught, apologies that my vouchers placed in the box at the beat are not filled in as on arrival I discovered that the pen in my fishing bag was not working.

Beat:R24, The Arrow, Titley beat
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:2
Started fishing at midday and noticed a steady stream of olives coming off. A lovely sunny day on a very nice beat but despite the olives only one fish was spotted rising which James caught on a PTN just sub surface - a lean brownie of about half a pound.
