Fished the evening. Waters incredibly low. Saw a few small browns rising and a few to my flies, but only hooked up once.

Well, I did intend to give the Lugg at Litton a bash, but I wanted to have a nose at the shooting that has been approved by the farmer at the Cregrina beat ....Overrun with grey squirrels hammering the feed out of the sheep creeps ....I can position myself on High ground, and pop them in the field before they arrive at the feeder ..... nice and quiet, with minimum disturbance......
Anyway , I then fished eleven till half three there,
only the bottom of the beat to the bridge, wasn't that stifling heat too.....only about 11 degrees and overcast too, nice !! Some risers and dry fly sport was good, in the smallest of pocket water too ...fun, fun, fun .....She's still very very low, and that bedrock in places is like ice..... A surreptitious approach here folks is muchly needed ......
Tiny dries scoring again .... There was a serious amount of surface activity from two, till half three, which took the lions share to the net ....Fifteen, all on dries, ranging from six to eleven inches, fantastic sport in fairness , lovely on the six foot , one weight rod !!!
Lots of olives and Large brook duns on parade and to be honest the Edw fish weren't that finicky, putting my dry bang on their noses, they were nailing it, just fab stuff !!!
So, overall a productive session, I'll get in position one of these early mornings, at sparrows fart, and make a dent in the grey squirrels population here !!!
A fun Sunday..... time for a stroll into Rhayader now I think, and a cold pint of Thatchers, sat outside The Lamb and Flag ...... lovely job !!!!!

River slightly warmer but still low & clear. Cold NE wind kept fly life and rising fish to a minimum. Euro nymph tactics produced the fish with Perdigon and GRHE nymphs sharing the honours. One thing of note was a double take resulting in 2 brownies being netted together. Also landed to hand 4 smolts - all returned safely.

1130-1600 session.
Day with the family and great to show my 3 year old her first brown trout.
Also a day of not getting to see much of what is a nice beat!
Concentrated on the lower more open half of this stretch.
Saw only 1 rise but probably left to early as sun was out by 1600 and looking like a good evening. However an invite for nights sea trouting can’t be missed.

1 brown trout and 1 grayling. Both on a nymph. Unfortunately it was a day when the hook just won’t stick and I lost another 4 BTs.

River full of spring life and well worth going.
