Busy days fishing, started on the feeder, had one Barbel, before switching to trotting meat/pellet in the bright weather. Took loads of Chub and a bonus Barbel on the float, before switching back to feeder tactics for the afternoon, taking another 3 Barbel and a nice flurry of big Chub before the end of the day. River fining down and colour dropping out. A great end to a fantastic weeks fishing. Thanks to WUF for making access to these wonderful fisheries possible..

Fishing:Winter Grayling

Water a bit too high when I arrived but dropping and clearing as the day went on. Trout were still very active and Grayling harder to locate. Best Grayling was 15 1/2 inches and the trout went up to 14 inches, all on euro nymphing rigs with jig bugs. Beautiful beat, as ever and I am hoping to be back after a frost or two.

River well up and quite cloudy with 2 ft visibility, wading a little hairy on the upper pool . Much to my surprise hooked a salmon third cast played it or should I say it played me for a few minutes then off. Saw another fish but no more takers other than 2 good size trout one of which actually stayed on the hook .
As always enjoy the day however beware ,make sure you have good felt soles on your wading boots and a stick !

Only one rod fished as unfortunately my partner was unable to make the trip....River here was a touch higher than anticipated with the beach area underwater and very pacey...I managed to find some fish though on feeder and float with the highlight being 2 nice Grayling!! Has been 2 or 3 years since I last caught one so a delightful surprise....Best Barbel was about 8lbs and it was pleasing to fish here without being disturbed with kayaks/swimmers etc so a really good day.
