Great day's fishing, the Barbel were feeding throughout the day, I caught in every swim I tried. Best three were 10lb 3oz , 8lb 12oz and 7lb 13oz. All to feeder tactics with paste wrapped boilies. River in superb condition, coloured and pushing through but 3 1/2oz feeders were just about OK. Really pretty stretch! I will definitely visit here again.

River 0.9m a bit high but perfect colour. Had a slightly coloured 10lber on a large Conehead Feeler Cascade. Then had an arm aching 20 minute battle before losing an estimated mid twenties brute at the net. Anyone know of a sympathetic counsellor (Also afflicted by salmon madness) ?

Beat:How Caple Court

Fishing:Coarse

Conditions looked great and How Caple provides a good variety of swims in all conditions. However it fished hard.
Most barbel (two sixes and an eight) to one rod in the slack water and the rest of us struggled. Other was an eel. Gb feeders and assorted hookbaits, barbel fell to red pellets.

I haven't been to this beat before and it is a fabulous tretch of river. Some was not fishable due to the height of the water, but it is varied with lots of places to have a crack. Such a shame then there were no fish! I caught only 1 small trout. Odd that, as I usually catch several. but there were no other fish seen, heard or touched. I had REALLY hoped to have at least SEEN a salmon...
