A very enjoyable last visit to the Wye this season. All fish caught on meat and came throughout the day. Anyone fishing especially on their own. Needs to be very careful as banks remain slippy. Ideally bring a rope for safety.

First time on the Usk and thoroughly enjoy myself. Morning produced 14 trout to various nymphs, and then a small hatch of LDO and March Browns brought another 5 on the dry.

This was my first day out on the Usk in 2026 and it was a good one. There were decent but sporadic hatches of March browns (with a few LDOs) in between 12.30 and 2.30, which brought the fish to the surface in bursts of aggressive feeding. In between the hatches, the river was quiet as is usual for this time of the year. 7 trout between the two of us, a couple just over 2lb and the rest between 0.5 and 1.75lb. Great to be back on the river.
